Ajker Ranna – Chicken Pulao

Do you want an amazing dish for your lunch? Then, you got to try the Chicken pulao. Pulao is the all-time favourite dish of Bengalis. Add a bit of chicken to it and it’s going to make your mouth salivate. Here is a recipe for Chicken pulao. All set? Now, let’s have Chicken pulao!


  • Chicken 600gms: Cut into small pieces
  • Rice..2 cups: Cooked with milk and elaichi/green cardamom
  • Ginger Paste–2tbsp
  • Garlic Paste–2tbsp
  • Garam Masala whole
  • Garam Masala powder–1tbsp
  • Salt–To Taste
  • Black Pepper–1tbsp
  • Onions–(2whole Chopped)
  • Curd–Half Cup
  • Khoa—(Dry Kheer or condensed milk)—half cup
  • Lemon juice–2tbsp
  • Chillies—(green –2pcs slit)
  • Elaichi Powder—(black cardamom seeds crusher)
  • Saunf Powder/fennel Seeds–3tbsp crushed.
  • Coriander Leaves–to taste.

How to cook

Heat oil or ghee in a pan preferably in a handi. Add whole garam masala little saute then add sliced onions, green chilies, ginger, and garlic paste. Saute till it turns golden. Then add chicken pieces. Add curd and cook in low flame till the chicken gets tender. Then add the boiled rice to the chicken gravy, mix it very well. Then add lemon juice. Add khoa kheer and condensed milk to the mixture. When the chicken, rice and all other ingredients are mixed well add coriander leaves, elaichi powder and saunf powder for garnishing.

Serves: 5-6 people
